Daniel in the Dark is the capstone project in my Master of Animation degree at UTS.
It is the story of Daniel, a young boy who is afraid of the dark. He falls into a restless sleep where he is pursued by his fears manifest.
He ultimately defeats his demon, releasing him from his fear in the real world. Daniel in the Dark combines digitally drawn 2D animation with traditional water colour painted backgrounds.
Here’s one from the archives.. This is a short drawn animation I did during my masters degree at UTS about a man trapped in a strange cavern.
It was drawn with an artline pen on 100% recycled paper. It was an exercise for me in the old Warner bros animation style, drawing smears, blurs and extreme stretching.
